About
Dr. Elise Gibbs
(she/her)
Licensed Psychologist
Board Certified in Clinical Psychology
I find my work as a psychologist incredibly rewarding. If I were to win the lottery, I’d be doing exactly what I do now. I like to think my clients can sense this in our work together. Because I’ve wanted to be a psychologist from a young age (which is admittedly both very strange and very lucky), I’ve been able to dedicate clear focus to my education and training throughout most of my life.
As a therapist, I have many favorite moments in the process. I love when clients share their sense of relief as they learn more about how anxiety works in general. The experiences that initially felt so isolating and unchangeable start to make more sense and feel less idiosyncratic — and thus a sense of optimism and connection emerges. I also love when clients accomplish things they never thought possible — I often hear myself saying, “I wish I could record this conversation and play it for you X months ago!”
I appreciate when clients describe my style as validating, warm, straightforward, and infused with (appropriately timed) humor. I love learning as much as I can about my clients and creating space where they can be their unfiltered selves. I value transparency about the therapy process — as a client, you would know what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and feel like a co-director.
Outside of the therapy room, I love spending time with my family and friends, figuring out how to parent, baking royal icing cookies, learning new crafts, and being surprisingly decent at pickleball. I’ve experienced many of the highs and lows that come with being human, and it is an honor to support my clients through their unique vicissitudes.
